One place that I am very interested in is Australia. I have always wanted to visit Australia because of its beautiful wildlife. I have always seen pictures of all of the beautiful animals and plant-life of the "Land down under". However, one of the big problems in Australia has to do with habitat loss and degradation. Habitat degradation is the process in which nature's habitat is unable to support the species present. Most of this is caused by humans expanding their territory because of increasing population. Also, water pollution plays a big role in this destruction. However, invasive species such as invasive weeds and animals degrade or even replace the natural habitat. This is a big problem with the waterways in Australia. It not only affects the biodiversity, but also the drinking water for humans and animals. One of the ways Australian wildlife officials are trying to help solve this problem is by making a lot of these areas protected. Along with the water getting harmed, a lot of the soil is becoming eroded or even destroyed.

Kakadu National Park is one of the most beautiful places in Australia. It is one of the protected territories in the Northern Territory of Australia. Kakadu is located in the tropics and has two main seasons: wet season and dry season. In the late 1880s, there was a period of time when there was a lot of mining in Kakadu. Miners looked for gold as well as other minerals there. About 60 years later, uranium was discovered along the waterways. Kakadu is known for there beautiful flora and fauna. Waterlilies such as the beautiful lotus flower thrive there as well as the floodplains. Along with these beautiful plants, there are some extraordinary animals there. The black wallaroo as well as the Antilopine kangaroo make a lovely home there. Also, the short-eared rock wallaby and the saltwater crocodile can be found in abundance there. The wildlife is not only beautiful, but also important to the citizens of the Northern Territories of Australia. It is essential that this area is protected and maintained.
